Feasibility Study for a Chain Ferry at Cramond
Prior to 2001 a ferry had operated for centuries across the River Almond at the historic village of Cramond. The Foot and Mouth crisis of 2001 meant that it was withdrawn and never reinstated.
In 2009 The Glamis Consultancy undertook a feasibility study into the potential for provision of a chain ferry at Cramond which could be used by pedestrians, cyclists and walkers whilst allowing access for wheelchairs and prams
