The Glamis Consultancy is managed by Dr. Colin J. Smith.
Colin graduated with his Ph.D Doctorate in Biological Sciences, from the University of Glasgow in 1986, followed by a Master of Business Administration, obtained via the part time route, from the University of Strathclyde Graduate Business School, in 1992.
Since 1985, his career has taken him in some interesting directions, including
* R&D within a major global pharmaceutical company
* Four years project development and management experience in Scottish Enterprise,
* A further five years in tourism and project development with city based Local Enterprise Companies
* Nine years as Chief Executive Officer of Angus & Dundee Tourist Board
* Twenty months experience in consultancy within the private sector.
The Glamis Consultancy specialises in economic development, with a focus on tourism, leisure and the service sector.
As a recently established organisation, the Glamis Consultancy's depth of experience has been generated within a range of organisations in which Colin has been employed in both the public and private sectors.
Until recently, Colin was employed as a Senior Consultant in the private sector, prior to which he spent nine years in a CEO role, managing a budget of over £1 million per annum and up to 35 staff.
The Glamis Consultancy is at the centre of a network of associates, each of whose expertise complements Colin's "in house" knowledge of tourism and economic development in general.
Colin is a Member of the Tourism Society and the Tourism Management Institute (TMI) and has recently joined the new Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce
